How to Order

The Basics:

• What's in the box? If you order one item of a certain cultivar, you will receive a single bearded iris rhizome of that cultivar. The rhizome will be labeled with the name of the cultivar. Planting instructions will also be included in the packaging.

• We do not take orders for irises all year. We normally start taking orders in early January and continue through mid-September. We announce these important dates on our website news page, social media, and through our email mailing list.

• Orders are shipped in late July, August and September. Orders are processed in the order they were received. Order early!

• Since irises are perennials, you can plant or move them practically anytime. Even so, some times are better than others. The best time to plant or move an iris is during their dormant period in July and August. This is why we dig and ship them during this period.

• All rhizomes are hand dug, cleaned, trimmed, labeled and packaged. If your order is shipped out of state, the rhizomes will also be rinsed completely clean of all soil and then sanitized with a bleach solution.

• We select the largest and best quality rhizomes in the clump. Please note that some cultivars grow smaller than others. This is normal, they will grow and bloom just fine.

• We ship freshly dug iris rhizomes that are ready to be planted as soon as you receive them. Remove them from the box as soon as you receive them. If you are unable to plant them right away, you can store them in a cool, dry place. After a week or so of storage they will start to go dormant, and may take a week or so longer for them to get established once planted. Rhizomes easily survive a few weeks of storage this way, and have been known to survive much, much longer in storage.

• If there is a period of time that you will not be able to receive your order and need it shipped on a certain date, just let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Shipping:

• We ship all order in late July, August and September.

• We ship to the lower 48 states of the USA. No international shipping. We ship most orders with USPS Priority Mail.

• You will receive shipping updates in your email.

• Count the total number of plants in your order, including the number of plants in bundles, and use the pricing below to calculate shipping charges.

  • 1-5 plants: $15

    6-10 plants: $17

    11-15 plants: $20

    16-20 plants: $24

    21-25 plants: $28

    26-30 plants: $34

  • 31-35 plants: $40

    36-40 plants: $44

    41-45 plants: $48

    46-50 plants: $52

    51-75 plants: $58

    76-100 plants: $64

Store Pickup:

• We also offer free local pickup for online orders. If you want to pick up your order in person, simply select that option at checkout.

• We have two pickup dates when you may come to the garden and get your order: July 25 and July 27, 2025 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. We will call and email you a reminder a week or so before. Please leave your phone number when you checkout.

Guarantee:

• We want you to be happy with our product. When you receive your iris order, open the package and inspect the rhizomes.  If for any reason you are not satisfied with any of the items you ordered, contact us for a full refund or replacement (if available) on the item that you are not satisfied with.  Bonus irises are included with some orders as a courtesy.  These free bonus irises are not refundable or replaceable.  

Substitutes:

• Iris rhizome yield can be unpredictable, so in light of this, if we do not have the inventory to fill your order, we will contact you and help you find a replacement iris or issue a refund. Your choice.

If we are unable to contact you we will issue a refund for any item that we were unable to ship.

Bonus Irises:

• We love to surprise our customers with free bonus irises! We don't charge extra for shipping, they ship free with the rest of your regular order. Bonus irises are our choice and may be unmarked.
